Does tattoo removal work?

Who will perform my treatment?

At Vanishing Ink MD, Dr. Baker performs all treatments himself. He does not delegate the treatment to assistants, so you know that you will have a physician and an experienced one at that removing your tattoo.

Does it hurt?

Most people say that the laser tattoo removal procedure feels similar to getting the tattoo applied – that the sensation is uncomfortable but tolerable. Fortunately, the laser treatment is over in just a few minutes. Also, Dr. Baker can minimize the discomfort through a variety of techniques including local anesthetic injections for particularly sensitive patients – a pain relief option that only a doctor can provide.

Are there any side effects?

Swelling, blistering and scabbing of the treated area common occurrences but should not be cause for alarm. Individuals with darker skin coloration may experience some lightening or darkening (hypopigmentation or hyperpigmentation) of the skin area from which tattoo was removed but the pigmentation changes are in most cases temporary. Scarring is very uncommon, but is a risk for people with a history of keloid scars. For ideal removal results, please follow the aftercare instructions provided by Dr. Baker at your appointment.

How long will the process take?

Tattoo removal rates vary greatly depending on a variety of factors, including: location of tattoo, tattoo application, ink color, age of tattoo, and patient health. Most patients need between 5 and 10 treatments to achieve complete removal, and treatments are typically spaced 4 to 8 weeks apart.

How much does it cost?

At Vanishing Ink MD, we offer FREE consultations to meet with you and assess your needs as a patient. We will give you a customized quote for treatment during the consultation, as the pricing depends on the size of your tattoo. By taking advantage of our package deals or military discounts, treatment prices can be as low as $70.

What should I expect at my appointment?

At your first appointment, Dr. Baker will assess your tattoo and explain the course of treatment. If you wish, he can perform your first treatment during the same appointment. Because the procedure is fast, appointments typically take 30 minutes or less. Afterwards, you will need to keep the treated area bandaged and dry for 3 days to prevent infection.
